Assemblyman V. Manuel Perez made the following statement to the Imperial Valley Times regarding the Governor’s budget proposal related to Enterprise Zones:
The budget proposal includes changes to the Enterprise Zone program, to be made through new regulations. As the former chair of the Assembly Jobs Committee, and with three zones in our region, I understand how significant the program is for economic development in underserved and historically disadvantaged communities. I have sought to advance sensible reforms to the Enterprise Zone program such as those in my current bill AB 28. I am committed to working with the Governor’s office and through the budget process to uphold the intent of the program and to ensure any changes do not harm our small businesses and local economic recovery.
