Audio: Senate Budget Committee Finishes its Business

Here is an audio clip from the final minutes of today’s Senate Budget Committee hearing. During the course of this segment there was a short debate over the use of the term “loophole” when referring to taxpayers legally applying the tax code and Democratic Senator Rod Wright pushing back on the issue of Enterprise Zones and accusing the State of promoting uncertainty. In the end, the committee voted on strict party line to accept all of the Governor’s revenue proposals (that’s “tax increases” in budget-speak) including the proposal to eliminate Enterprise Zones. Even Sen. Wright did not vote differently.

The issue is far from over as it goes next to the budget conference committee process before a vote of the whole legislature.
