City of Oxnard Making Push for New Enterprise Zone

The City of Oxnard posted a press release for an event on Monday, January 21 to unveil plans to seek a new Enterprise Zone designation. Two Enterprise Zones expired in 2012 and the State has the option to therefore designate two new zones. State representatives have thus far said that they have no plans to award new zones at least until regulatory changes to the program have been instituted. According to the release, “[Oxnard] will announce an effort to seek recognition as an Enterprise Zone through both an administrative route and legislation.” State Assemblyman Jeff Gorell will be in attendance and would presumably be the legislator to propose new legislation on the issue.
