Jobs Added, But Unemployment Rate Rises to 12.5%

According to the Sacramento Bee:

California unemployment increased to 12.5 percent last month despite the addition of 4,900 jobs, state officials said today.

The Employment Development Department said the statewide jobless rate inched up a tenth of a percentage point from November.

The report did provide some encouraging news, though. The state added 30,500 jobs in November – not 1,600 as previously reported.

Still, the figures show the recovery is proceeding very slowly.
