New Enterprise Zone Bill From Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez AB 2673

New bill language appeared today for AB 2673 authored by Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez, Chairman of the Assembly Jobs Committee.

I spoke to the Committee’s consultant Toni Symonds for clarification. Chairman Pérez now has two Enterprise Zone bills: AB 1411 is intended to be the vehicle for a comprehensive program reform package that will attempt to reach a consensus among interest groups. AB 2673 is intended as a vehicle for technical and non-controversial changes. For example, AB 2673 expands the definition of “census tract” to include “census block groups” (essentially subdivisions of census tracts) for future TEA updates. Ms. Symonds said that if any provisions in AB 2673 become controversial, they will be removed.

Here is a fact sheet regarding AB 2673 from the Committee.
