The Salinas Californian reports on Monterey County’s continuing progress in its pursuit of an Enterprise Zone designation next year:

Salinas’ future looked a little brighter Friday with the announcement of a new economic development director, Jeffrey Weir…. Weir will lead city efforts to create an independent corporation to manage economic development in the county and file an application for a Salinas Valley Enterprise Zone, which would create a partnership between cities and towns throughout the eastern portion of Monterey County.
