Here is a nice article in the Siskiyou Daily News about my friend Tonya Dowse:

Dowse is completing her fist year as director of the SCEDC this month and has already expanded her influence beyond Siskiyou County. She is on the board of directors of the California Enterprise Zone and chair of its governmental affairs committee.

And the race is already on for the 2008 zone expirations:

The existing enterprise zone expires at the end of 2008. Dowse said the SCEDC is already working on the application process for a new zone for Siskiyou County, an application process that will cost about $200,000. Although it is a competitive allocation, Dowse is very optimistic about Siskiyou Countys chances. We would not be pursuing reapplication if we did not have a good chance at getting it, she said. The economic composition of our county is in our favor; our real challenge is creating a marketing strategy and providing the required funding. We want to help as many areas in the county as we can.
