Brian McGowan, undersecretary for Economic Development and Commerce with the State Business, Transportation & Housing Agency, spoke at last week’s CALED conference. A source who was at the conference relayed that he was asked directly about any possible threat to the Enterprise Program in light of the budget problems. He responded that the Governor is very supportive of the Enterprise Zone program in particular and does not believe that the program is in jeopardy. After answering the question Mr. McGowan asked Chris Westlake (HCD Deputy Director) if he concurred, and Mr. Westlake responded affirmatively.
